Poonch police detains criminal under PSA

Poonch, Aug 20: In a significant move aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring the  safety of citizens, Poonch Police has detained Mohd Nasar alias Jiggar, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Sagra Balnoi, Tehsil Mendhar, District Poonch, under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978.The accused has been lodged at District Jail Dhangri, Rajouri following the execution of the detention order issued by the District Magistrate Poonch, which was carried out by Police Station Mendhar.Mohd Nasar is a notorious criminal with a long history of violent and heinous offences. Despite multiple arrests and legal actions, he continued to show a blatant disregard for the law and remained actively involved in criminal activities, thereby posing a serious threat to public peace and security.As routine legal measures failed to deter his unlawful conduct, his preventive detention under PSA was deemed necessary to safeguard public order and prevent further criminal acts.District Police Poonch reiterates its firm commitment to uphold the rule of law and ensure the safety and security of the public. The police force will continue to follow a zero-tolerance policy against crime, taking stern action against individuals who attempt to disturb peace and disrupt the harmony of society.
