KU first to reserve 10% NRI quota; admission process begins

Srinagar, Aug 20: For the first time, the University of Kashmir (KU) has reserved 10 per cent of its seats under the NRI Sponsored Quota and has initiated the admission process for this category.Dr Fayaz Ahmad, Director of Admissions and Competitive Examinations, informed Rising Kashmir that this marks the inaugural reservation of the NRI Sponsored Quota at the university, with 10 per cent of the total seats allocated for NRI students.”We have received 25 applications so far for admission under the NRI Quota. The deadline for online application submissions is August 24, 2025. The selection list will be announced on August 26, 2025,” he stated.Dr Fayaz said this is the first time the university has reserved seats specifically for NRI students, and the application process is currently underway, with 25 applications received.He further said that regular classes for all PG programmes are scheduled to commence on August 25. He said new online applications are being invited for available vacancies in both General and Self-Finance programs from eligible candidates. The last date to apply is Monday, August 25, 2025.”Online counselling will be conducted to finalise admissions for the General seats. This counselling will take place from August 22 to August 24,” Dr Fayaz added.The Director Admissions said that after completing the NRI Quota admissions, the university will also fill seats in the Self-Finance and General categories, with classes beginning immediately thereafter.
