The Indian nation has always been guided by the civilizational aspirations that have shaped its place of consciousness and vision from ancient times. And in this civilizational journey India always recognised the importance and contribution of the youth towards nation building and the national resurgence. The continuity of the civilizational moorings in India always recognised the role that the youth must play in nation building. In fact India upholds Swami Vivekananda as the national youth icon for all times to come. That is why the national Youth Day is celebrated every year in India on 12th January to commemorate his birthday. The nation recognised his electrifying energy with which he electrified the entire world at Chicago Parliament of World Religions and put forth India’s civilizational resolve to embrace the entire humanity as its own and underlining India’s broader spiritual goal of acting as the anchor of the suffering humanity. He was at that time in the prime of his youth. His persona transcended all age groups and he emerged as a giant among the yogis and intellectuals of the times. His mission to unite the nation and integrate humanity with the Indian knowledge system guided by the ancient Vedic wisdom has emerged as the cardinal principle of the Indian nation and is now being witnessed in the policies of the Indian state to inculcate the national values of bravery and fearlessness among the youth. It is in this backdrop that we must see all the initiatives of the Central Government meant to encourage the youth in various fields and contribute in the development of their personality and nation building. Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has invited the nominations for the prestigious Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award(TNNAA) 2024.This national award is meant to recognise the achievements of the youth in in the field of adventure to encourage the spirit of endurance, risk taking, co-operative team work besides quick, ready and effective reflexes among the youth in the challenging situations. The purpose is to provide an incentive to the young people for getting exposed to the various activities of adventure. This award is presented by the Government of India along with the Arjuna Awards annually. The areas that are covered under this award include: Land Adventure, Water Adventure, Air Adventure and Life Time Achievement for Adventure Activities. Recognition of the youth at the national level is indeed meant to acknowledge the national resolve to make the youth internalise their duty to contribute for the national growth by emulating the highest standards of excellence set by the contemporary heroes. It inspires the new generation to be ready for the national challenges in the times of the crisis and the national emergencies besides that it inculcates among the youth a zeal to serve the nation under all situations and safeguard the national interests. In the present times when the global geo-political equations are undergoing transformation there is a need to channelize the youth power for the national resurgence so that India keeps pace with the emerging permutations and combinations. Youth is the life blood of the national future and the hope that drives the nations to keep marching ahead for achieving the new horizons.
