Anantnag, Feb 25: A fast bowler from Khiram Anantnag featured in the maiden Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Auction 2024.
Farhat Ahmad, a 29-year-old, made it to the auction after undergoing green ticket, blue ticket, trials, and final trials, finally securing a spot at the auction and getting sold to the Chennai Singhams.
Farhat told Rising Kashmir that he has been on cloud nine since he watched himself being bought at the ISPL 2024 auction.
He said ISPL is being hosted in Mumbai for the first time, and lakhs had registered for it, in which six teams will be participating.
“We were first selected under the green ticket, then blue ticket and trials, and the final trial, which saw a very thin number of players who made it to the auction table in the end,” he said.
He added that he will play for the Chennai Singhams as a fast bowler and that he got a base price of Rs three (3) lakhs in the auction.
“This achievement will inspire more youth, encouraging them to pursue their passion. Cricket remains the most beloved game in our community,” Farhat said.
He said the youth should approach cricket professionally, and parents should support their children in pursuing this passion.
“This platform will further boost my morale, and hopefully, we will perform well and continue our journey in cricket,” he added.
