24,015 candidates from J&K qualify NEET (UG) 2025

Srinagar, June 14:A total of 24,015 candidates from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have successfully qualified the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2025, as per the results declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Saturday.
This year, 50,957 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir registered for the medical entrance examination, out of which 49,326 appeared in the exam held on May 4, 2025 (Sunday). The NEET-UG 2025 was conducted across 5,468 centers in 552 cities in India and 14 international cities, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bangkok, Colombo, Doha, and Singapore.
In comparison, 48,545 candidates from J&K had registered for NEET (UG)-2024, with 47,227 appearing and 24,545 qualifying. Despite a slight drop in the number of qualified candidates this year, the participation rate remains consistently high.
The exam was conducted in 13 different languages, ensuring accessibility for candidates across diverse linguistic backgrounds. These include Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
At the national level, the top rank was secured by Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan with a percentile score of 99.9999547. He was followed by Utkarsh Awadhiya from Madhya Pradesh (99.9990095 percentile) and Krishang Joshi from Maharashtra (99.9998289 percentile), achieving the second and third ranks respectively.
From Jammu and Kashmir, Aftab Iqbal emerged as the state topper, securing 423rd rank at the national level with a percentile score of 99.9808085.
The NEET (UG)-2025 results will be used for admission to MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. (H) Nursing, and BVSc & AH courses under various quotas, including the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quotas. The All-India Ayush Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) will also use NEET scores for admissions to BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, and BHMS courses.
The NTA clarified that its responsibility is limited to conducting the examination and declaring the results, while the respective admitting authorities will prepare merit lists based on All India Rank (AIR) and category as per state norms for seat allocation
