Srinagar, May 18: Amid growing public concern triggered by global oil market uncertainty and the continuing conflict in West Asia, authorities on Monday clarified that fuel supplies across Jammu & Kashmir remain stable, sufficient and uninterrupted.
State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, Himanshu Sharma, said there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) anywhere in the Union Territory, urging people not to indulge in panic buying or unnecessary stockpiling.
According to officials, the petroleum supply network — including fuel depots, storage terminals and retail outlets — is functioning smoothly across both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
“The overall fuel supply position in Jammu & Kashmir continues to remain stable and adequate. The entire supply chain is operating efficiently without any disruption,” Sharma said in an official statement.
Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have informed the administration that fuel stocks are being monitored round-the-clock and replenishment operations are continuing normally across all districts.
Authorities further stated that domestic LPG distribution is also proceeding without interruption, with priority being given to household consumers to avoid any inconvenience.
Officials said coordination between oil companies, transport agencies and local administration is being maintained to ensure uninterrupted movement and availability of petroleum products across the Union Territory, including far-flung areas.
The clarification comes amid rising anxiety in some parts of J&K following reports of global fuel supply disruptions linked to the prolonged geopolitical tensions in West Asia — a region critical to international crude oil production and exports.
However, officials maintained that there is currently no cause for concern in Jammu & Kashmir and appealed to the public to rely only on verified information issued through official channels.
“Citizens are advised to continue normal consumption patterns and avoid panic-driven purchases,” the statement said.
No disruption in fuel transportation or retail distribution has been reported so far from any district of the Union Territory, officials added.
