Jammu, Jan 22: Apni Party provincial president Jammu, Manjit Singh on Wednesday said the killing at Jewel Chowk, Jammu on Tuesday has raised serious questions about the security arrangements ahead of Republic Day in the city, where the main celebration is scheduled to take place.
Pertinently, Sumit Jandyal, a resident of the Vijaypur area in Samba district, was shot dead by unidentified attackers at Jewel Chowk, Jammu, on Tuesday.
In his statement, Singh expressed concerns regarding the city’s security arrangements, especially with Republic Day approaching. “The killing took place in the heart of Jammu city, just a few days before Republic Day. This raises serious questions about the security arrangements in the city,” he said.
Apni Party leader added, “The administration and security agencies cannot evade their responsibilities in this regard. Although the police have clarified that the incident is not related to any terrorist activity but rather a result of criminal activity, it remains a matter of grave concern.”
Singh urged the authorities to ensure adequate security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations.
