Jammu, Jan 20: Director Agriculture Jammu, S. Arvinder Singh Reen Monday flagged off a group of 55 farmers and entrepreneurs from Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur districts for a five-day training and exposure visit to Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), Ludhiana.
The initiative, organised under the HADP 2024-25 project on Seed and Seed Multiplication Chain Development, aims to enhance farmers’ capacity and agricultural knowledge.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at Krishi Bhawan, Jammu, Director Reen highlighted the critical role of seed multiplication in maintaining genetic purity and improving yield and quality. He encouraged participants to actively interact with PAU scientists and researchers, adopt advanced techniques, and share their insights with fellow farmers in their communities.
Joint Director Agriculture Extension, Satish Sharma, stressed on the significance of applying newly acquired skills to enhance farm productivity and profitability. The program, running from January 20–24 is accompanied by five officers to ensure effective learning and guidance for the participants.
