Kashmir in a bid to preserve the Kashmir’s exquisite handicrafts, experts have come together to highlight the challenges facing the traditional craft and propose solutions to ensure it’s survival.
Sheikh Ashiq, board of director on carpet export promotional council and Indian silk export councils (set up of ministry of Textiles G.O.I) emphasized the need to tackle the challenges facing Kashmir handicrafts like duplicacy , loss of Traditional Techniques and Economic Instability.
To address these challenges , Sheikh Ashiq suggested some solutions, including Government initiatives, Artisan Empowerment, promoting Authenticity and Digital platforms to showcase and sell authentic Kashmir handicrafts, providing artisans with a global market.
“Let us join hands to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir handicrafts. By promoting authenticity, empowering artisans, and supporting government initiatives, we can ensure the survival of this traditional craft for generations to come,” Sheikh Ashiq said in a statement.
