Srinagar, Nov 28: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women’s Wing President for the Kashmir Province, Er Sabiya Qadri led a high-level meeting to finalise the arrangements for the upcoming 119th birth anniversary observance of “Sher-e-Kashmir” Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha in Srinagar.
During the meeting, the preparations for the upcoming birth anniversary of Sheikh Abdullah, to be commemorated at his gravesite in Naseem Bagh Hazratbal, were thoroughly reviewed, the party said in a statement issued here.
Provincial vice president & MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq also addressed the meeting. They emphasized the historical and revolutionary contributions of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
The leaders highlighted the widening gender disparity in the region post-2015. They pointed out that rising unemployment, development deficits, and deepening uncertainty have impacted everyone in the region, with women bearing the brunt of these challenges. “The prevailing political and social issues, they emphasised, have had a devastating effect on the dignity and lives of women,” they said.
The leaders said the Omar Abdullah-led govt is addressing these issues head-on and working towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society for all individuals in Jammu and Kashmir. “The legacy of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, they said, serves as a guiding light in our quest for a better future for the region.
