Jammu, Oct 24: A delegation from the Dogra Sabha and Mandir Committee today met with Vikram Randhawa, MLA of the Bahu Constituency, to present a memorandum outlining pressing issues impacting the local community.
Led by Kulbir Singh (Bittu Baba), president of Dogra Sabha, the delegation highlighted critical challenges ranging from infrastructure needs to community safety concerns.
The delegation emphasized the deteriorating state of town streets, which are riddled with potholes and uneven surfaces, creating hazards for both vehicles and pedestrians. They requested immediate attention for road repairs to improve safety and reduce vehicle maintenance costs for residents.
Dogra Sabha and Mandir Committee members expressed concern over delayed Smart City projects intended to enhance infrastructure and services. They urged MLA Randhawa to expedite these initiatives, which are vital for modernizing the town and improving connectivity.
The delegation underscored the cultural and spiritual significance of the local Mandir, which is currently in disrepair. They appealed for support to secure necessary funding to restore the Mandir, which serves as a central gathering space for community events.
Highlighting a growing issue, the delegation described the lack of sufficient parking spaces, leading to congestion and street obstructions. They requested assistance in developing designated parking areas to ease traffic flow and ensure safer streets.
Members noted the absence of a dedicated community hall for social events, gatherings, and cultural activities, which fosters community engagement. They requested support in planning and constructing a multipurpose community hall for residents.
Alarmed by the rise in drug-related incidents and crime rates, including theft and vandalism, the delegation urged the MLA to advocate for increased law enforcement presence and support community outreach programs to address these issues and restore security.
