Jammu, Sept 26: Former minister and National Conference zonal president Babu Rampaul on Thursday said the party’s vision for Jammu & Kashmir revolves around creating a society that prioritises inclusivity, equal opportunity and social justice for all, particularly the marginalised sections and women.
Intensifying the election campaign in support of a coalition candidate in the Jammu East Assembly segment, Rampaul convened a meeting of prominent party workers of different areas to mobilise support for NC-Congress joint candidate Yogesh Sawhney, who was also present in the meeting.
Prominent NC workers from Ward no 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 16, 17 and Ward Number 18 attended the meeting and assured full support to coalition candidate Yogesh Sawhney, a statement issued here said, adding that the meeting was organized by Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District JKNC, Dr Vikas Sharma.
Addressing the meeting, Rampaul said, “Core pillars of our manifesto focus on social progress, women’s welfare and empowerment.”
Elaborating on election promises for women and other marginalised sections, he said they were pledged to provide financial security by offering Rs 5000 per month to female heads of economically weaker sections (EWS) households. “This would ensure stability for families who rely on women for leadership and support,” he said.
Outlining some of the party’s key initiatives, he said the NC is committed to raising old age pensions from Rs 1000 to Rs 3000, increasing financial assistance for girls’ marriages to Rs 75,000 from 50,000 of EWS, providing 12 LPG cylinders per family per year of EWS, provide free 200 units power, free drinking water, provide free travel of females in government transport, legalise MSP for farmers and provide 10 Kg rice per person per month free of cost.
By promising regularisation, the JKNC is directly addressing the concerns of temporary employees and their families. The implications of such a policy are far-reaching, he said.
Babu also called for safeguarding land laws and employment rights, saying that all decisions made without the approval of the people will be reviewed. “By promising to protect land laws and employment rights, the JKNC is directly addressing the concerns of residents, who have been feeling marginalised and disenfranchised,” he said.
He added, “NC has committed to providing one lakh jobs for the youth across various sectors. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce unemployment and provide much-needed opportunities for the younger population.”
