8 persons held in connection with Juvenile’s death in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday apprehended eight persons, including three juveniles, in connection with the death of juvenile Farhan Bashir of Budshah Nagar.
A police officer said on February 15, Police Station Chanapora received information that some shopkeepers of Budshah Nagar had caught some suspects from an under construction building (Sky Park).
“The police party rushed to the spot and found the shopkeepers had apprehended Juvenile (name withheld). While questioning locals and shopkeepers they disclosed that four persons were found on the rooftop of building and other three had fled away from the spot,” he said.
The police officer said that they searched the building premises along with the locals, shopkeepers.
“During the searches one juvenile was found lying near the corner of the building in a critical condition. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment where doctors declared him dead,” he said.
Police identified him as Farhan Bashir Wani son of Bashir Ahmad Wani resident of Iram Lane Budshah Nagar.
Consequently, a case under FIR No.08/2023 U/S 304 IPC was registered and an investigation was taken up.
“During the course of investigation, the apprehended juvenile (name withheld) disclosed the names of other two juveniles who were also apprehended,” the police officer said.
He said apprehended persons disclosed that they had gone inside the building in order to consume some contraband substance.
“They also disclosed that the shopkeepers along with the building owner had arrived inside the building, which made all of them flee in panic. Resulting in the falling of one among them,” the police officer said.
According to Police, the building owner along with other shopkeepers namely Sahil Ahmad son of Mohd Subhan resident of Nowgam; Abdul Rashid Bhat son of Habib Ullah Bhat resident of Allochi Bagh; Ab Majeed Fufoo son of Habib Ullah Fufoo resident of Mehboob Colony; Aijaz Ahmad son of Gh Ahmad Farash resident of Mehboob Colony, and Mohd Yaseen son of Ab Gani Khan resident of Pulwama were arrested for this rash and negligent act causing death of a juvenile. 
“Moreover, the other three Juveniles in conflict with law (friends of the deceased) were also apprehended formally and were medically examined, where it came forth that all of them were under the influence of a contraband substance,” the police officer said.
He said all eight accused were produced before the Court of Law and necessary remand was obtained.
“Investigation in the case is in full swing and whole circumstances leading to death will be examined in detail,”  the police official said.
