Srinagar, May 2: The stage is all set for a foot march (Padyatra) in Srinagar’s commercial Hub on Sunday aimed at promoting a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir amid the ongoing 100-day campaign.

The event will be flagged off by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha from Football Stadium at Polo View to Clock Tower.

To make the event successful, the authorities have made elaborate arrangements including the security preparations at the venue along with the Padyatra route. The banners were being installed at multiple places enroute from TRC to Clock Tower. Also, the temporary tents were seen pegged at Pratap Park here ahead of the event.

As per the official figures, around 35,000 participants are expected to join the yatra from TRC to Clock Tower. The participants have been asked to reach the venue before 7:30 AM for timely commencement of the event.

The civil as well as police administration have made special arrangements while a series of meetings were chaired by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Anshul Garg.

The Information Department was assigned the responsibility of enhancing the event’s outreach and visibility through the installation of a Public Address System (PAS), preparation of a theme-based video, display of an anti-drug pledge on digital screens, and the creation of thematic flags and banners.

To amplify public engagement, the Divisional Commissioner has directed the formation of a human chain by students from the venue up to Poloview.

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar was instructed to ensure the availability of essential services along the entire route of the padyatra.

The Cultural Department was tasked with organizing performances, including songs and thematic presentations, within a stipulated time frame. Meanwhile, the Hospitality & Protocol Department was directed to distribute refreshments for students and participants in advance while for VVIPs, and other dignitaries at the venue.

Security and crowd management responsibilities were entrusted to the Police Department, which will also oversee the deployment of a police band to support the event.

Furthermore, a comprehensive traffic plan was also issued ahead of the event, while the parking slots have been specified for the participants coming from central, south and northern parts of the Valley.
