Baramulla, July 08: Over two hundred candidates were shortlisted for 500 vacancies offered by 20 employers and job providers across north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in a mega job fair held at GDC Boys here. Around 42 candidates were given offer letters on the spot.
In order to facilitate the educated youth of the district with employment opportunities in different sectors, a daylong mega job fair was on Saturday inaugurated by Director Employment Nissar Ahmad Wani at Government Degree College (GDC) Boys here. Principal GDC Boys, Assistant Director Employment, Career Counseling Officer and EO of DE&CC Baramulla were present at the event.
The day-long mega job fair programme was organised by District Employment and Counseling Centre (DE&CC) Baramulla in active collaboration with GDC Boys Baramulla.
As many as 20 employers from different sectors including Hospitality, Banking, Finance, Insurance, Transport, IT, Education, construction, etc participated in the event which also witnessed an overwhelming response from job seekers as around 900 plus youth across the district participated in the programme.
During the event, job seekers with varied skills were shortlisted by the companies for different jobs, while participating candidates were also urged to get registered on the NCS employment portal for getting information about the job opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, the Director highlighted the importance of the event and underlined that the event would serve as an excellent platform for introducing skilled unemployed youth of Baramulla with recruiters. He urged the youth to get registered with the online portal jakemp.nic.in and informed them that the portal has also been integrated with the NCS portal which has 1.92 lakh employers onboard. He informed that more than 50 thousand unemployed youth from J&K have already registered at the platform.
Elaborating further, the Director asserted that the platform aimed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, providing an opportunity for aspiring individuals to secure meaningful employment.
Principal GDC Boys Baramulla while interacting with candidates stressed having a job-oriented attitude for achieving success in their careers. He encouraged them to give their best in the interviews and wished them well in their future endeavors.
Meanwhile, the unemployed youth expressed gratitude to the DE&CC Baramulla for organizing this job fair and bringing employers to their doorsteps. Various company representatives also addressed the youth and made them aware of the changing requirement of industry and the job skills required for employment in contemporary times.
