Jammu, Nov 14: Three people including two R&B officials and a driver lost their lives after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge in Doda district on Monday.
A police official said that a vehicle (JK02CC-0701) was on its way towards Doda when it skidded off the road, apparently due to bad weather and low visibility, near Trungal Bridge in Assar area and fell into a 200 metre deep gorge, resulting in death of three people and injuries to another person.
“The deceased R&B officials were returning to Doda after participating in the DISHA meeting in Jammu,” SDM Assar, Lekh Raj told Rising Kashmir.
Police have identified the deceased as Mohammad Rafiq Shah, XEN, R&B Doda, resident of Poonch; Kamal Kishore, AEE, R&B Doda, resident of Udhampur and driver Abdul Hafiz of Doda.
The injured Superintendent Engineer of R&B, who is undergoing treatment at Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, has been identified as Suresh Kumar of Jammu.
Jammu and Kashmir Police in Assar have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and taken up further investigation.
Pertinently, four youth drowned in Chenab River earlier on November 8 after the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into the river near Prem Nagar area. Body of one of the youths has been recovered by the police.
