Srinagar, Aug 21: The two-day workshop on exploring the strategies for prevention, support and redressal in sexual harassment cases at workplaces concluded at Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar on August 21.According to a statement issued here, the workshop titled ‘Strengthening the Internal Committees for Zero Tolerance Campus’ was organised by the Internal Committee of the host college in collaboration with WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace), New Delhi.A team from WISCOMP led by Director, Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath conducted the training sessions. Dr. Meenakshi explained the role of the Internal Committee in ensuring campus with zero tolerance for sexual harassment and culture of engendering a campus. The second day of the workshop included a mix of lectures, discussions and cases study-based group exercises. The sessions also included Audio-Visual presentations followed by threadbare discussions.Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Simnani was the guest of honour at the valedictory function. The participants were also addressed by noted academician, Prof. Parveen Pandit.Dr. Meenakshi said a zero-tolerance campus is a campus of equity. “It’s a campus of care. It is a campus of compassion. It is a campus of solidarity. But all kinds of exclusion, whether of race, culture, ethnicity, religion and of course gender.”Principal of the host college, Prof. Yasmeen Farooq stressed on the need for a safe and supportive ecosystem for all students and faculty.
