Jammu, Feb 26: Two persons, both residents of Doda district, were on Sunday arrested by Samba Police for “bluffing and kidnapping” a minor girl hailing from a remote Samba village.
“The minor girl was pursuing Arabic studies in a madrassa at ChackDayala in the border area of Samba,” SSP Samba, Benam Tosh told Rising Kashmir.
He said the accused used to teach in the madrassa and had married the girl knowing fully that she is a minor. The accused, identified as Bilal Ahmed, son of Abdul Qayoom, resident of Bathari village of Doda, was arrested from the Ramsoo area in the Ramban district, he added.
Another accused, a resident of the Gandoh area of Doda district, was also arrested for helping Bilal in marrying the minor, SSP Samba said, adding that the person has been arrested for abetting the kidnapping and helping the accused in marrying the minor girl.
The SSP said that further investigation into the matter is going on.
