Srinagar, Mar 19: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said there are currently 15 government schools operating in rented facilities within the Zadibal Constituency of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
Responding to a question posed by MLA Tanvir Sadiq during the Assembly session, the education minister said there are a total of 29 government schools in the Zadibal Constituency. Of these, 14 are situated in government-owned buildings, while the remaining 15 are housed in rented facilities.
The minister said that among the government-operated school buildings, only four schools are experiencing a shortage of classrooms due to a lack of available land. However, all 29 schools are equipped with adequate drinking water facilities and proper sanitation.
The minister added that the Zadibal Constituency is divided into three educational zones: Zone Hawal, Zone Iddgah, and Zone Gulab Bagh. The majority of the schools, totalling 25, are located in Zone Hawal, where 11 schools are operating in rented accommodations. Zones Iddgah and Gulab Bagh each have only four schools, all of which are also functioning in rented facilities, the minister said.
