117 Bn CRPF Organises Inter-Battalion Badminton Tournament

Srinagar, Aug 22: The 117 Battalion, CRPF, Friday organised the Inter-Battalion (Ops)/GC Badminton Tournament of the Srinagar Sector in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The three-day event, held from August 18 to 20 at the Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex (SKISC), Srinagar, witnessed the participation of 25 CRPF battalions and institutions.A statement issued here said that  Biplab Sarkar, Commandant of 117 Bn CRPF, inaugurated the tournament on August 18 during a colourful ceremony attended by officers and men of 117 Bn CRPF, along with officials from the J&K Sports Council. The tournament aimed to identify talent and encourage sportsmanship among personnel from various CRPF units and offices under the Srinagar Sector. Additionally, the event provided participants with a welcome break from stressful deployments and helped strengthen CRPF-public relations. The tournament concluded on August 20 with a vibrant closing ceremony graced by P. R. Jambholkar, DIGP, O/O Srinagar Sector, in the presence of officers, men of various CRPF units, officials from the J&K Sports Council, and local civilian dignitaries. During the occasion, the Chief Guest commended the J&K Sports Council for providing excellent support in terms of coaches, referees, and ground facilities, which contributed to the successful completion of the event. He also encouraged all personnel and civilians to actively participate in different sports, boosting morale and fostering a spirit of healthy competition.
