JAMMU, Mar 16: The work on delivering a ‘unique address with new ID’ and a ‘digital door number plate’ to each house, stop, government building, or other commercial establishment in Jammu is nearly complete, and data is being collated in this respect, sources informed.
“The survey in this regard has been completed in seventy wards falling within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), while in the other five wards the survey is going on,” Manager Smart City, JP Singh informed Rising Kashmir adding, “the design of digital number plates to be allotted to each house, shop, government building and the commercial establishments such as malls etc is being finalised”.
JMC encompasses 75 wards, and the survey work has been finished in 70 of them, with the results being collated.
In all 75 wards of Jammu, two lakh digital door number plates with unique addresses (new ID) will be issued, including dwellings, shops, government buildings, and other commercial entities like as malls.
“First and foremost, digital numbers will be assigned, followed by digital number plates,” sources said.
Not only the houses and shops but even many streets and lanes in Jammu will also have a digital number. In this regard, the Manager said that there are many streets and lanes in Jammu which do not have any name.
“All such streets and lanes will also have a digital number (not plate) and new name so that the JMC is able to compile the data for providing various services to the people,” Singh said.
Each house, shop and other buildings will be given a QR code. The people, by scanning this QR code, would be able to avail various services provided by the JMC like sanitation, repair or construction of streets, lanes and drains, request for street lights, lifting of garbage, seeking corrections in certificates besides various other services.
Apart from this, the people, by scanning the QR code, would also be able to lodge complaints if proper services are not provided in their area.
The digital door number plates will be the new unique ID (unique address) of each household, shop and other business establishments. This would be called as ‘Smart Address System’.
The old address as is now will be there only for postal purposes.
