Srinagar, May 23: Korean Ambassador Chang Jae-bok on Tuesday said that India and Korea should put collective efforts to increase tourist footfall from Korea to Kashmir.
The governments of both India and Korea need to promote cultural exchange and attract film crews for shooting in the Kashmir valley, the Korean Ambassador said while highlighting the importance of cultural exchanges in boosting tourism.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the G20 tourism working group meeting, Ambassador Jaebok emphasized the need for joint efforts between the two countries to enhance tourism opportunities in Kashmir.
“Both the governments of India and Korea need to put concerted efforts to increase tourist footfall from Korea to Kashmir. We must work together to promote cultural exchanges and attract film crews to explore the scenic beauty of the valley”, he said.
Expressing support for India’s G20 presidency, Jae-bok said that as the Korean government, they extend complete support to India for its G20 presidency this year. “We acknowledge that each country has its own position, but from Korea’s perspective, we are fully supportive of India’s leadership in the G20”, he added.
While emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange, the Korean Ambassador said that it will take some time to have increased footfall of tourists from Korea to Kashmir; however the governments of both India and Korea need to promote cultural exchange initiatives that will showcase the unique heritage and attractions of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner of Singapore in India, Simon Wong said that Singapore is the biggest investor in India and is looking for new areas to invest in.
Wong said that with a cumulative investment of $140 billion in India, the government of Singapore is actively exploring new avenues for investment and growth, reinforcing the robust economic ties between the two nations.
While highlighting the enduring friendship and support between Singapore and India, Wong said that they are touched by the friendship of India. “The recent well-wishes extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to our Prime Minister when he tested positive for Covid-19 exemplify the strong bond we share”, he said.
