Jammu, Nov 21: President Women’s Wing Jammu Province of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Namrta Sharma Monday alleged that government is putting specially-abled, aged people and widows in a tight spot by making mandatory a number of formalities due to which aspiring beneficiaries are getting in a state of distress.
“The government has now come up with another order for implementation of the new Jammu and Kashmir Integrated Social Security Scheme. Domicile certificate, Date of Birth or disability certificate from District Board, Affidavit of Judicial Magistrate are among a number of mandatory formalities kept in it and the procedure is too lengthy.” Sharma said.
She said, “We too support a proper verification process as it will weed out those who are not entitled for benefit of the scheme but the procedure should be easy for those who deserve.”
Appealing to the government to ease the process for the scheme, she said an alternative to the judicial affidavit like one issued by the concerned Sarpanch or municipal representative should be considered. She also demanded that death certificates for widow pensioners issued by concerned Sarpanch should also be included as there are a number of widow females whose husband died long ago and they are not having death certificates required as per the scheme due to lack of awareness.
“We in AAP are not against any kind of betterment for implementation of these schemes but we are concerned about complex formalities required to avail benefit due to which poor people are suffering hard.” she said.
