Srinagar, Apr 25: Former Member Parliament and People’s Democratic Party General Secretary (Organization), Dr Mehboob Beg on Thursday raised questions at the National Conference Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Addressing a gathering in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, Dr Beg said the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was formed as a platform to unify and amplify the voices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He called upon the people to hold accountable those responsible for obstructing the realisation of PAGD’s objectives. He urged Omar Abdullah to elucidate why the united front, established to combat the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “onslaught” on Jammu and Kashmir, disintegrated.
“Omar Abdullah may have received tacit approval from those benefiting from weakening the populace’s collective voice,” he said.
Meanwhile, the PDP leader also raised questions on the performance and stand taken by the three National Conference MPs and asked as to why they failed to represent the people on the floor of the highest forum.
“The National Conference knows very well that their Members of Parliament failed to represent the aspirations of the people and are now hiding behind religious leaders to see them through. The people see and know what is going on,” Dr Beg remarked. “Not only the people of Kashmir, but the people of Jammu and Ladakh had also decided to defeat the communal politics of the BJP.”
