The grand finales, which took place at the prestigious Sports Ground in Jablipora Bijbehara, witnessed intense battles between the finest young cricketing talents in the region.
In the U-14 final showdown, Zone Bijbehara took the bat first and set a challenging target of 101 runs on the board. Zone Mattan, displaying exemplary resilience, managed to equal the score, leading to a nail-biting super over. In this nerve-wracking climax, Mattan Zone set a target of 10 runs, and the valiant Bijbehara side couldn’t chase it down, losing the match by a narrow margin of 2 runs. This triumph secured the U-14 title for Zone Mattan, leaving cricket enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.
Meanwhile, in the U-17 category, Zone Bijbehara batted first, amassing a competitive total of 104 runs. However, Zone Srigufwara, displaying unwavering determination, chased down the target with five wickets to spare. This resounding victory earned Zone Srigufwara the coveted U-17 championship title, cementing their status as the team to beat in the district.
The post-match presentation ceremony, graced by the field officials from DYSSO Anantnag, saw the triumphant teams being awarded trophies for their remarkable performances. Suhaib Nazir, a standout player from Mattan Zone, was bestowed with the prestigious “Man of the Tournament” award for his outstanding contributions.
