Ganderbal, Feb 04: Amidst the significant snowfall in Sonamarg and nearby regions, in Ganderbal, officials have halted works on Zojila tunnel.
DM Ganderbal directed the Project Manager of M/S MEGHA (MEIL) at Zojila Tunnel HQ to immediately halt all operations, prioritizing the safety of project personnel.
“In view of significant snow accumulation in Sonamarg & its adjoining vicinities, and Avalanche warning with medium danger level above 2400 meters over Ganderbal for next few days, Project Manager M/S MEGHA (MEIL) at Zojila Tunnel HQ, is directed to stop the work forthwith, and take all precautionary measures for the safety of employees, laborers working with the M/S MEGHA at Zojilla Tunnel, including restricting the unwanted movement of laborers, and, if need arises labors be shifted to safer places in close coordination with the Civil & Police Administration to avoid any loss of life,” reads the order.
This coordinated effort aims to prevent any loss of life and address the challenging weather conditions at the Zojila Tunnel project site.
