Kargil, Oct 13:  Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages, in collaboration with Government Model Degree College, Zanskar, orchestrated an enthralling day-long children’s singing and music competition. Dr. Abid Hussain, the officiating principal, extended a warm welcome to the guests and talented students. The event was graced by the presence of Sonam Dorjay, SDM Zanskar, who assumed the role of chief guest and addressed the gathering.
The event transcended musical boundaries, encompassing a captivating poetry symposium and stimulating paper presentations. Over seventy students hailing from various schools in the Zanskar Sub Division enthusiastically participated in this cultural extravaganza.
Notable figures, including Deputy Secretary LAACL Nazir Hussain and Assistant Director Tourism Kargil, Syed Toha, along with other Sub Divisional officers, added prestige to the event.
A medley of schools enthusiastically participated, among them Higher Secondary Padum and Phey, Duzin Photang School, SECPAD School, Lamdon Model High School, Jamyangling Model School, High School Karsha, Zangla, Eicher, and Marpaling Middle School. Students from Government Degree College Zanskar also showcased their musical prowess.
In the fiercely contested painting competition, Stanzin Lakdan from Duzin Photang School claimed the coveted first position, while Tsering Dolma from GMDC Zanskar and Stanzin Spalbar from Government High School Zangla clinched the second and third positions, respectively.
Turning the spotlight to the music competition, Stanzin Konchok from Lamdon Model High School Ufti secured the third position, and Tashi Chuskit from Duzin Photang School was celebrated as the second-place winner. The prestigious first position was jointly awarded to Stanzin Tantar of Government High School Karsha and Thinlay Namgyal CERPAD School.
The event offered more than just music and painting; a literary session showcased the talents of numerous poets from the Zanskar Sub Division, while over five scholars presented insightful papers covering a range of subjects, including social, cultural, historical, and other facets of Zanskar.
The festivities culminated with a heartwarming ceremony to distribute prizes and certificates to the victorious students who had showcased their exceptional talents in this multifaceted competition.
