Renowned politician Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) today carried out an extensive tour of Halqa Wagoora in Block BK Pora of Chadoora, Budgam while engaging with local residents and presiding over a pivotal workers’ meeting.

The meeting took place at Dev Mohallah in Wagoora, where Zaffer Mir was greeted warmly by the community members that even included a considerable representation of women folk and youth.

In his address, Zaffer underscored the profound importance of the Panchayat Raj system, emphasizing its role in empowering the general populace in rural areas and ensuring that the benefits of right to vote, as enshrined in the constitution, reach every citizen.

Zaffer also expressed deep concern upon learning about the unfortunate circumstances faced by local inhabitants due to the commissioning of a power grid several years ago.
“It is a saddening reality that only influential individuals have been benefited while laborers employed at the power grid were excluded from its advantages,” he said.

Moreover, Zaffer was apprised of the widespread water shortage crisis that has afflicted the area causing panic and severe difficulties for the local community.

“I assure the swift resolution of this pressing water issue & promise to raise it with the concerned authorities of PHE/Jalshakti at the earliest. Prioritizing the resolution of this water shortage predicament to alleviate the suffering of local residents shall remain on my priority work-to-do list,” he remarked.
Zaffer added that government has recently sanctioned many water supply schemes, particularly the composite water supply scheme at Khanda, which includes an OHT, reservoir and a filtration plant.

“The upgradation and induction of new infrastructure by Jal Shakti department will undoubtedly aid in resolving this issue. Besides, I will also meet with the Chief Engineer PHE to expedite the process for alleviating the perils of common people,” he informed.

Pertinently, Zaffer apprised the locals present in the meeting about these crucial water supply projects that were initially conceptualized by Gh. Nabi Mir (Lasjan).

“Regrettably, the government did not take them seriously at that time. The master plan for operational water supply, which involved ideas and survey done by Er. Gh Nabi Mir (Lasjan) could have ended this dearth of potable water years ago as I recall the moment when these projects were given a nod by then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad sb and the proposal was submitted by Er. Ghulam Nabi Mir sb,” he said.

Zaffer also inspected the interlinking roads leading to paddy field and sketched a plan for the expansion of roads leading to paddy fields.
“This expansion will undoubtedly facilitate the access of tractors to rural areas and aid in the collection and other agricultural activities of the farmers,” he said.
