Budgam, Oct 12: In the continuation of his ongoing public outreach efforts, renowned political figure Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) undertook a comprehensive two-day tour, engaging with the residents throughout Budgam district. This comprehensive tour included visits to various areas in the district including Bugam, Noubug, Chadoora and Charar-e-Sharief.
During his interactions with local residents, Zaffer Mir voiced his profound concern over the deplorable state of the Kuzwera-Gowharpora to Chadoora road while criticizing the apparent neglect of the concerned departments responsible for maintaining the road.
In an official statement, Zaffer Mir highlighted the road’s numerous potholes and the extensive damage to adjacent pavements that have resulted in considerable inconvenience for users of public transportation.
Zaffer further emphasized that a lack of coordination between the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Roads and Buildings (R&B) departments, as well as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Jal Shakti initiatives, has contributed to the degradation of the Chadoora-Surasyar road and the Mulpora-Pakharpora road.
“The recently refurbished road now lies in a dilapidated state due to the absence of interdepartmental collaboration that further compounds the challenges faced by the local population. It appears that either technocrats are being compelled to meet JJM’s targets or there is a significant lack of accountability at the operational level, raising questions about the seriousness of the officials involved in the apparent failure of this developmental project,” he remarked.
Zaffer called on the District Development Commissioner Budgam and both the Chief Engineers of JJM and R&B to establish a commission of inquiry to identify the root causes of such mismanagement.
“It is imperative to rectify the wastage of government resources and ensure that the intended benefits reach the beneficiaries,” he insisted.
Zaffer Mir concluded by highlighting the contrast between the government’s claims of ushering in a new era of progress and the practical challenges faced by the public due to the absence of effective technocracy.
During his two-day tour, Zaffer Mir also visited the shrine of Sheikh Noor Din Noorani (RA), offering prayers for peace and harmony.
He also engaged with the residents of Charar-e-Sharief, noting that their challenges were similar to those of the wider Budgam district while reaffirming his dedication to serving the public and addressing their concerns, transcending political aspirations.
