Poonch, May 17: Former minister and Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, S Manjit Singh on Friday urged the people to give a chance to the party’s candidate Zafar Iqbal Manhas to represent them from the Rajouri-Anantnag Parliamentary seat.
“The people of Pir Panjal always remained neglected, and their demands of development and employment were not fulfilled although they exercised their vote to elect the Member of Parliament of their choice in the past,” he said while addressing a roadshow at Mendhar in Poonch district.
Singh said Zafar Iqbal is a local candidate, who is familiar with the difficulties faced by the people in the region. “Manhas sahab has committed to leaving no stone unturned to get a separate Parliamentary seat so that the people’s aspiration can be addressed by their own Member of Parliament,” he said, adding, “Manhas sahab has focused on empowering the people of Rajouri and Poonch and to strengthen the voices supporting equitable development, and employment.”
Manjit said if Zafar Manhas is elected to the Lok Sabha, the party will work to get the Hill Development Council for the Rajouri-Poonch, exploration of new sites for tourism at the national and international level to boost the local economy and generate employment, and construct of two tunnels i.e. Dera Ke Gali and Peer Ki Gali on Mughal Road to make the alternative route operational throughout the year.
