In addition to his remarks on the project, PM Modi also praised the breathtaking aerial visuals of the region, stating, “Loved the aerial pictures and videos.” The stunning landscape of Sonamarg, known as the ‘Meadow of Gold,’ is set to become even more accessible with the tunnel, which is seen as a testament to the government’s commitment to infrastructure development in the Union Territory.
The new tunnel is expected to significantly boost connectivity in the region, facilitating year-round travel to the picturesque town of Sonamarg, which is often cut off during winter due to heavy snowfall. This development is anticipated to give a major push to tourism and bolster the local economy by improving access for travelers and businesses alike.
Pertinently, the Z-Morh Tunnel is set to be inaugurated by PM Modi on January 13.”
