Jammu, Feb 16: Commending the efforts of the GCC volunteers and their associates for their pivotal role in providing skill development and coaching to youth, aiming to ensure a brighter future for them, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasised the importance of youth empowerment, urging the youth of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to be bold, adventurous, and unwavering in their morals.
“I want our youth to carry the age-old traditional values in one hand and modern scientific tools in the other,” he stated, stressing the need for a balanced approach that combines tradition with innovation.
In his address during the 6th Annual Day celebration of the Guidance and Career Counselling Cell for Youth Development (GCC) at Gurha Slathia, Samba, Lieutenant Governor hailed the organisation as a “role model for the nation,” highlighting its forward-thinking approach to youth-centric initiatives.
“GCC has adopted a futuristic approach to enhance the quality of youth pursuits, enabling them to follow their dreams. The organisation’s focus on preserving cultural and intellectual heritage is truly inspiring,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor further observed that the speed and inclusivity of society’s development heavily depend on the productivity of its youth. “To realise the progress we envision for J&K, we must focus on securing the health and well-being of our youth at the grassroots level,” the Lieutenant Governor said, noting that GCC is actively working with the administration to achieve this through infrastructure development and coaching initiatives.
The Lieutenant Governor also outlined the government’s ongoing efforts under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which have empowered the youth to lead the development journey of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation. He cited future-oriented policies in sectors such as education, industry, skill development, sports, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, which he said are creating a hopeful future for the region’s youth.
The Lieutenant Governor applauded GCC’s initiatives aimed at women empowerment, drug abuse awareness campaigns, competitive exam preparations, leadership development, and sports-related activities.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Army bravehearts, freedom fighters, and other notable figures from Gurha Slathia, he recalled their invaluable contributions to the nation.
Present at the event were Surjit Singh Slathia, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Samba; Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Samba; Sudarshan Singh Slathia, District Development Council (DDC) Member; senior officials; GCC members; and a large gathering of youth. Notable personalities including Padma Mohan Singh Slathia and Lieutenant General (Retd.) Anoop Singh Jamwal also attended the celebration.
