Bandipora, May 30: Local youths have set up tented accommodations around the banks of the famed Wular Lake in the Zurimanz area to cater to the growing number of tourists visiting the destination in this north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Following the construction of gazebo and selfie points by the Wular Conservation Management Authority (WUCMA) along the shores of Wular Lake, tourist footfall has witnessed a steady increase in recent months.
Seizing this opportunity, local youths have established tents, offering visitors a convenient and affordable lodging option.
Showket Ahmad, a resident of the area and founder of the Wular Camping Club, expressed his enthusiasm about the employment prospects this development brings for the local community, particularly the fishermen. He said the creation of selfie points and the provision of tent accommodations not only showcase the beauty of the lake but also open doors for sustainable tourism.
This initiative will undoubtedly contribute to the economic growth of the fishermen community, fostering a sense of pride in their natural heritage, he added.
Manzoor Ahmad, another local youth who is actively involved in establishing the tent accommodations, told Rising Kashmir that he is thrilled about the increasing tourism opportunities in his area.
“As I witnessed the popularity of the selfie points, I realised the importance of providing comfortable lodging options,” he said, adding, “By offering tents, we not only contribute to the local economy but also offer tourists a distinctive experience, allowing them to truly connect with the beauty of nature.”
Coordinator, WUCMA, Bandipora, Mudasir Mehmood Malik told Rising Kashmir that the tent accommodations provide an opportunity for tourists to extend their stay and immerse themselves in the tranquility of the lake’s surroundings.
Tourists can wake up to breathtaking views of the crystal-clear waters and majestic mountains, enjoying an authentic camping experience, he said.
Mudasir further said that the introduction of selfie points and the establishment of tent accommodations by local youths are expected to significantly boost tourism in the region.
The Wular banks have become a prominent attraction for tourists, offering a mesmerising setting and an unforgettable immersive experience which has been made possible through the dedicated efforts of local youths committed to highlighting the splendor of the region and providing exceptional hospitality services, Mudasir added.
