Youth must  join hands in eradicating drug menace from society: LG Sinha

Srinagar, Apr 21: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Friday said there is a deep rooted conspiracy behind to destroy youth through drug menace and the Government will act tough against the drug peddlers and its entire ecosystem.
Addressing the  Rajya Puraskar Ceremony of J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides in Jammu, LG Sinha said youth must join hands with the government to wipe out drug menace from Jammu and Kashmir. 
He said there is a deep rooted nexus of drug peddlers. An attempt is being made to destroy the society and its youth by luring them towards drugs,” LG Sinha said.
“We will act tough against drug peddlers and those promoting the drug business,” Sinha said adding that UT administration along with Jammu and Police are working to eradicate this menace from the society,” he said.
LG Sinha urged  youth to follow the rich legacy of Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya and dedicate themselves in the service of the nation.
“The young generation is the key to change and today they are eager to play a bigger role in sustainable economic growth and social cohesion. With their commitment to selfless service, Scouts & Guides is contributing to build an inclusive and prosperous society,” he said.
LG Sinha said  in the fast-changing world, Scouts & Guides will have to turn their voice into action.
“The police and administration are acting against it. However, there is a need for social awakening. All should join us in this campaign to put an end to this menace,” he said.
The Lt Governor advised students that wherever you see such elements in schools, universities or in any colony, please provide information to the administration . Strong action will be taken against them, he said.

 On the occasion, the Lt Governor felicitated the Scouts & Guides from various schools with Rajya Puraskar Award Certificates.
 Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament; Sh Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Wg. Cdr MM Joshi, Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides; Ms Nasreen Khan, Administrator, Bharat Scouts & Guides, J&K and Ladakh Chapter, besides Guide Captains, Instructors, Principals, teachers & students from various schools were present.
