Pulwama: “People across the country will take pride in Pulwama when they learn about the sacrifices made by the villagers of this district for the nation,” said Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, on Saturday at the DC Office complex while honouring the families of martyrs (veers).
He emphasized that it was not only Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Jawans who made sacrifices here but also the youth from every village in Pulwama who gave their lives for the nation.
“When people across the country find out that the government has honoured and shown respect to the families of the Jawans from Pulwama who sacrificed their lives for our nation, they will feel proud of the people of Pulwama,” he said.
The minister became emotional, and tears welled up in his eyes as he paid tribute to the martyrs and honoured their family members.
He also praised the people of Pulwama as the most valuable asset to the nation.
He noted that Pulwama residents cultivate products of international standard, especially saffron, and said, “I can see happiness on the faces of the people here.”
He added that this was a clear sign that the government’s dream of turning Jammu and Kashmir into the most developed and empowered region in the entire country had come true.
The minister also commended the youth of Pulwama, stating that their contributions would lead the country on the path of development and progress.
Earlier, the minister participated in “Meri Matti Mera Desh,” during which soil from various blocks of Pulwama was collected in an Amrit Kalash. During this occasion, the minister also inaugurated several developmental projects through virtual mode.
Latter the minister was scheduled to visit industrial growth centre Lassipora and IIKSTC Dusso.
