Jammu, Apr 26: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has accused Election Commission of India of depriving first time voters by delaying assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a youth wing meeting in Jammu, the Former Minister said that the ECI has delayed the assembly polls beyond expectation even as other states and UTs across the country continue to exercise their democratic rights.
He said the elections are regularly being held in the country, but J&K has been kept away from the polls citing unjustified reasons. He said the situation has improved and there is a need to fill the vacuum by holding elections without delay.
Singh said that the Apni Party is committed to equitable development, protection of natural resources, employment for the local youth, and to implement social security schemes.
“It was Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari who played a major role in protecting jobs for the youth. However, if we form the next Govt in J&K, the people will get a chance to be represented equally from all the regions,” he said.
The Apni party leader said that the youth, especially first time voters, were expecting elections in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the ECI has disappointed these enthusiastic voters as well as the general public.
Appreciating the youth wing, he advised them to work among the youth and highlight their issues especially related to employment and job security.
“The youth have been disappointed with the present Govt being run by the bureaucracy,” he added. Meanwhile, he also referred to the growing menace of drug peddling and appealed to the Govt to curb drug smuggling in J&K.
