Yawer slams cracking ton as J&K thrashes Odisha by 163 runs

Raipur, Dec 17: Splendid century by Yawer Hassan and good contributions with the willow by the quartet of Qazi Junaid, Arnav Gupta, Kawal Preet Singh and skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan, coupled with superb bowling show by the trio of Archit Mahajan, Vishal Kumar and Atif Bin Mushtaq powered Jammu and Kashmir to a big win by a huge margin of 163 runs against Odisha in the ongoing U-23 Men’s State-A One-Day Trophy at RDCA Ground, Raipur, on Tuesday.
Earlier, J&K scored a huge total of 322 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process.
Yawer Hassan was in sublime touch, who showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up a cracking century, scoring 112 runs off 113 balls, studded with 10 fours and 3 sixes, while Qazi Junaid Masood contributed 70 runs off 77 balls with 7 boundaries and Arnav Gupta scored power-packed 49 runs off just 27 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Kawal Preet Singh (38) and Kanhaiya Wadhawan (27) were the other major contributors.
Vimal Kumar took 3 wickets and Badal bagged 2 for Odisha.
In reply, Odisha bundled out for paltry 159 runs in 33.5 overs, thus lost the match by a huge margin. Skipper Sawan Pahariya and Badal contributed 41 and 35 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, Archit Mahajan and Vishal Kumar took 3 wickets each, while Atif Bin Mushtaq bagged 2 wickets. Mujtaba Yousuf and Sarvashish Singh claimed one wicket each.
