World Red Cross Day observed at Udhampur

Udhampur, May 08: Like other parts of the country, world Red Cross Day was Thursday celebrated at district Udhampur wherein Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai was the chief guest.
IAS Probationer Seerat Baji, District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta and other officers, besides staff members and students attended the programme. The District Red Cross society organized a Symposium contest on the theme “On the side of humanity” in which 10 students from different educational institutions participated and threw light on the given topic. Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the crucial role of Red Cross in enlightening Humanity and emphasized that need of the hour is unity among the society, cordial behaviour and conflict resolution. She encouraged the students to act as brand Ambassadors to spread the message of humanity and said ‘We as a society owe responsibility in fostering unity in the society and make a progressive India.’
Samriti Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School, Tikri clinched first position while Swashti of Government Higher Secondary School Jaganoo and Simran Sharma of Government Higher Secondary School Chak Rakhwalan bagged second and third positions respectively. Rinku Khanna and Jyoti acted as judges in the programme. Later, the chief guest distributed certificates among the participants on the occasion.
