WORLD Environment Day:Debate, quiz competitions held at SKUAST-K Wadura

Srinagar, June 5: Regional cum Facilitation Centre (RCFC) NR-II, National Medicinal Plant Board, Ministry of AYUSH, GoI, New Delhi under the aegis of SKUAST-K in collaboration with Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura organized one day programme on the occasion of World Environmental Day at FoA, Wadura on Monday.
More than 180 students participated in the programme. Besides the students and staff from FoA, Wadura, students from other colleges & schools from district Baramulla participated in the programme.
On this occasion, a debate & quiz competition on various environmental issues was organized. Mementoes & certificates were awarded to the winners of the competition. During this programme, Prof. Sheikh Bilal Ahmad, Regional Director, RCFC NR-II deliberated upon various environmental concerns like increased Carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere, depletion of aquifers, loss of biodiversity, plastic menace and suggested various measures for the mitigation of environmental concerns.
During the programme the participants made a pledge for making all possible changes in their life to protect the environment & motivate their family & friends for inculcating sound environmental habits. During the programme medicinal plants were distributed by RCFC among the participants. Dr Aijaz Qureshi, Assistant Students Welfare Officer, SKUAST-K Wadura presented a vote of thanks.
