Shopian, Nov 23: District Surveillance Unit Shopian on Wednesday organised World Antimicrobial Week at SBGM Paramedical College Shopian. Block Medical Officer, Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the BMO said the main objective of the programme is to spread awareness among people with regard to usage of inadequate and improper intake of antibiotics. He said proper care and precautions are needed while using any kind of antibiotics and highlighted the ill effects of taking antibiotics without consultation of medical specialists.
The programme was also attended by a team of District Surveillance office Shopian who provided valuable information to the participants about the topic.
On the occasion, a quiz programme was conducted by the District Surveillance Unit Shopian in which the students of SBGM. Paramedical College and ANMT School Shopian participated which culminated with the distribution of awards among winners of the quiz.
District Programme Coordinator Dr Sibgat, and officers and officials from District Surveillance Unit Shopian, students of SBGM Paramedical College and ANMT School Shopian and other concerned health functionaries participated in the programme.
