Budgam, Dec 01: World AIDS Day was marked across the district today under the flagship of CMO Budgam, Dr Ayoub Fateh Khan.
The main event was organised at Imam Bada Budgam, where CMO Budgam Dr Ayoub elaborated about the history and the challenges posed by the disease.
He further briefed about the modes of spread of the disease while urging the youth to refrain from illegal and immoral practices including adultery and drug addiction. He emphasised the role of religious preachers and the NGOs in spreading awareness and shattering the taboos regarding the disease.
Later, a blood camp was organised at Imam Bada on the occasion, which was inaugurated by CMO Budgam.
The event was attended by MS, District Hospital, Budgam and other dignitaries.
The day is commemorated to spread awareness among the people and the Health Care Providers about the colossality of the problem.
It serves as a reminder about how people everywhere have the chance to come together in the battle against HIV, to assist those who are living with the virus, and to honor those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses. In addition, the day is commemorated to collect money for scientific studies that could lead to the discovery of a treatment for the illness and spare many lives from pain and suffering. It serves to remind the public and government that HIV is still a problem in addition to generating funds, spreading awareness, eradicating discrimination, and enhancing education on World AIDS Day.
With the theme “Let communities lead” for World AIDS Day 2023, it is a chance to evaluate the progress that has been made thus far, to discuss the obstacles still standing in the way of achieving the 2030 target of ending AIDS, and to rally all relevant parties to work together to intensify efforts even further in order to guarantee the effectiveness of the
HIV response.
