Handwara, Jan 22: In a stunning medical achievement, a 5.1 kg baby boy was successfully delivered at Associated Hospital GMC Handwara, setting a national milestone. Despite the challenges of meconium-stained fluid and a 6-year gap since her last pregnancy, the mother’s full-term delivery was managed expertly by Dr. Javeed Munwar, Dr. Insha, and the dedicated medical team.
As per doctors, the patient, who had a full-term pregnancy of 40 weeks, presented with meconium-stained amniotic fluid, which added a layer of complexity to the case. However, the dedicated medical staff, including Dilshada Ji and the interns, ensured a safe vaginal delivery, resulting in the birth of a healthy baby boy. The newborn, weighing 5.1 kg, was born with an Apgar score of 8/8, indicating excellent health and vitality.
This delivery sets a national benchmark, with the baby’s weight surpassing the previous record in Jammu and Kashmir. The team’s successful handling of the pregnancy and delivery process has been praised for its skill and expertise, with both mother and child now in stable condition.
The patient’s successful delivery is a testament to the advanced medical facilities and expertise available at GMC Handwara, providing vital healthcare services to the community. Dr. Javeed Munwar and the entire medical team expressed their satisfaction with the outcome and emphasized the importance of timely medical intervention and care.
Pediatrician Dr. Nasir and Junior Resident Dr. Majida also played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both mother and child. The full support from the principal and medical superintendent of GMC Handwara was instrumental in ensuring that the necessary resources and expertise were available for safe delivery. Both mother and baby are in excellent health, marking a remarkable moment for Handwara’s healthcare services.
