Kulgam, Sep 01: Nazir Ahmad Laway, the People’s Conference (PC) candidate for the Kulgam constituency, on Sunday said he is committed to addressing key public issues, especially in the sectors of health and education.
“Our problem here in Kulgam is public health. The district hospital is not adequately equipped. You must have seen that there is no MRI, and despite our efforts, the facility remains incomplete,” Laway said, adding that he will address these gaps if elected.
The PC leader said there is also an important issue of clean drinking water and the absence of proper filtration systems. “The water is not clean, and people are falling sick because of it. We have to ensure that basic needs like clean water are met,” he said.
Laway said there is a “concern” over the lack of adequate educational resources in the district. “There are shortage of lecturers in many schools and the government has failed to send officers to these institutions. Education is very important to me. We will have to work hard to ensure our schools are staffed with qualified teachers and officials,” he said.
Nazir said he has always fought for the people and is now fighting for the better Kulgam. “The previous MLA did nothing but fool the people. We are not here to make false promises; we are here to bring real change. When Kulgam sees this change, people will know it’s a relief from the hollow rhetoric of the past,” he added.
“People here know me well. I have always worked on the ground. When I was an MP, I solved the power issues in many villages. Today, there is no electricity problem in any village,” he said.
The PC leader said he will ensure every promise with people is fulfilled.
Will prioritise health, edu in Kulgam, says PC’s Nazir Laway
