Jammu, May 06: Democratic Progressive Azad Party chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Saturday said that DPAP is the only political party that envisages the political roadmap for the entire Union Territory for all-round development. He said if his party emerges to power after elections, it will build Jammu as “the city of immense opportunities”.
“When I was the chief minister, I built hospitals of AIMS standard. The colleges and universities were also built of international standard, but the present dispensation robbed it of all and made a city which looks totally dependent,” Azad said at a function here during which many leaders and workers joined the party.
According to a party statement, Working President National Panther’s Party P R Ganju, renowned businessman Surinder Kumar Wahi, Rtd Astt GM FCI Joginder Paul Kholi, Shweta Dogra, Darhana Devi, Rita Devi, Rekha along with hundreds of workers on Saturday joined the DPAP in presence of party chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad here.
Speaking on the occasion, Azad said the Darbar Move was fetching substantial economic opportunities for the people of Jammu but it was cancelled without taking the interests of local people on board.
The DPAP chairman said he was never in favour of cancelling the Darbar Move which was an “immature and wrong decision”.
He assured the people of Jammu that all their grievances will be resolved if DPAP is elected to power. “I will intensify the speed of development more than what it was earlier and build more colleges, hospitals and road network of international standard,” he said, adding, “Jammu can’t be treated as a normal city for its rich social and economical values. It needs a vision to run and develop. I assure you I have all that and will develop it on international standards.”
Azad said no one can ignore the secular values of Jammu and how it embraced all the people from various regions and religions and offered equal opportunities. “Its secularism is actually its strength and I salute the people for maintaining the secular tradition,” he said.
