Ganderbal, Sept 16: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali, on Tuesday visited the far-flung area of Issbandar Rezan in Gund tehsil of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district to take stock of local issues and listen to public grievances. During his visit, scores of villagers turned up to highlight the challenges they have been facing for years, particularly the lack of basic infrastructure and essential services. The residents voiced concerns over the dilapidated condition of the Government Middle School building, poor road connectivity, inadequate water supply, and frequent electricity disruptions. The MLA patiently heard the grievances and assured the public that their long-pending demands would be addressed with priority. "The people of this constituency have trusted me with their mandate in the elections. It is now my duty to listen to their grievances and take note of them," he said while addressing the gathering. Ali further stressed that his role as a public representative was to act as a bridge between the community and the administration. "I have come here to serve my constituency. Whatever people may think, my top priority is to take their issues to the higher authorities so that they do not continue to suffer," he said. Locals expressed hope that the MLA’s intervention would finally bring relief to the neglected area. Ghulam Rasool, a resident of Issbandar, said, "Our children study in a school building that is in dire need of reconstruction. We raised this issue several times, but today we feel hopeful that our MLA has personally assured us of action." Another villager, Haleema Begum, highlighted the problem of water scarcity. We have to walk long distances to fetch water. If this issue is resolved, it will bring a big change in our daily lives, she said. Responding to the concerns, Mian Mehar Ali assured that he would personally follow up with the concerned departments. "Development cannot be selective. Every area, especially far-flung villages like Issbandar Rezan, deserves equal attention and facilities. I will ensure that the voices of these people reach the right platforms," he remarked. People urged that such direct interactions between the elected representatives and the people should happen more frequently.
