Says terror outfits in Kashmir are headless, we will achieve same in Jammu

Will not let adversaries succeed in their nefarious designs: Sinha

Launches ‘Hausla 2.0’ & the JK Startup Portal

Srinagar, July 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday said that the successful “Kashmir model” will be adopted to combat any resurgence of terrorism in Jammu. Speaking at the launch of ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal at the International Convention Centre, Sinha emphasized J&K’s progress in peace and development.

“J&K’s journey over the past four to five years has been transformative,” Sinha remarked, urging Jammu’s residents to unite against divisive forces. “Our Administration and Security Forces are committed to eliminating terrorism and its supporters from J&K. We will not let adversaries succeed in their nefarious designs,” he asserted.

“Our neighbour cannot digest the peace prevailing in J&K, but we will not allow terrorism to resurface in Jammu. The Kashmir model will ensure peace and stability across the region,” he said.

Highlighting the distinct change in Kashmir, Sinha noted that peace now prevails across its ten districts, with the youth actively engaging in innovation and sectors like agriculture. “The people of Jammu have always opposed terrorism, and we will ensure that the same tranquillity is established in Jammu by adopting the strategies that worked in Kashmir. Today, terror outfits in Kashmir are headless, and we will achieve the same in Jammu,” Sinha said.

Sinha also praised the entrepreneurial spirit flourishing in J&K.

“Boys and girls are becoming entrepreneurs, with a total of 840 start-ups established, including 265 by young women,” he highlighted. He attributed this success to the peaceful environment and the transparent government recruitment process, which has for the first time allowed children of cart pullers, vegetable vendors, and street vendors to secure government jobs based on merit.

In his address, Sinha also reflected on initiatives like ‘Back to Village,’ ‘My Town My Pride,’ and youth skill development programs at the Panchayat level as pivotal in shaping the future of J&K’s youth.

“The prime objective of the Hausla program is to harness the entrepreneurial potential of women in J&K UT, increase financial access and market reach for women entrepreneurs, and to create a nurturing ecosystem for women’s economic empowerment,” Sinha said, congratulating the women and young startup entrepreneurs on the occasion.

“We want women entrepreneurs of J&K UT to build global brands and fortunes through their own hard work and strong drive. Our focus is women-led development and dedicated efforts have been made for women’s economic participation to boost economic growth,” the Lt Governor added.

Reiterating the UT Administration’s resolve to promote entrepreneurship and startups in J&K, under the guidance of Prime Minister NarendraModi, Sinha stated, “The new JK Startup portal will ensure the seamless execution of the Startup Policy. The portal will streamline the application process for various support mechanisms viz. seed funding, mentoring, startup awards, and claiming infrastructure benefits for the development of incubators/incubation facilities.”

To support the startup ecosystem and promote innovation in the region, JKEDI signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with five higher educational institutions. “The MoUs will help students enhance their skills and knowledge with entrepreneurship, innovation, and startups,” Sinha noted.

On the occasion, women entrepreneurs associated with Hausla 1.0 shared their success stories and expressed gratitude to the Lt Governor led UT Administration for providing necessary support and guidance for their business ventures. Under Hausla 2.0, JKEDI will ensure quality training sessions at the district level for 400 selected women entrepreneurs from Jammu Kashmir, promoting broader regional participation.

Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST; Prof. Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir; ShVikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department; Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar; Khalid Jahangir, Managing Director, JKTPO; Rajinder Sharma, Director, JKEDI; HoDs, representatives of trade bodies; women and young entrepreneurs were present in large numbers.
