Srinagar, March 25: Director of School Education (DSEK) Saturday said it will go tough on the private schools with regard to overcharging of admission or tuition fees.
To streamline the fees as per the standard of school, the directorate has directed all the officers to make surprise visits to the schools and take cognizance of the complaints to restore faith and confidence among the general public.
In a circular issued by the Joint Director Education, Mohammad Rouf Rehman, it was mentioned that the directorate has noticed that the parents of the students are expressing their anger with regard to overcharging of fees like admission fee, tuition free and bus fees charged by the private schools of north and central Kashmir in brazen violation of rules and regulations and the cannons prescribed by Fee Fixation Regulation Committee established by the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The private school management has become so arrogant that they withhold the results of the students who don’t pay advance fees of the current month which is yet to finish or they don’t bother or feel it necessary to consult the parent body, working committee or official machinery to get the hike the charges examined discussed justified and finally accepted by one and all,” mentioned the circular.
With this regard, the directorate warned the private school management to be careful in future while going for a revision or a hike in fee and also directed them to consult the Chief Education Officer (CEO)/ Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) and the parent body of that school and make a proposal of any such changes or hike so that the menace of the overcharging of fees, exorbitant admission fees are streamlined as per the standards of school and the facilities provided by schools.
“The Chief Education Officers and Zonal Education Officers of all the six districts are impressed upon to mobilize themselves and re-activate their institutions and make surprise visits of their school jurisdiction and take cognize of complaints received in this behalf and take a strong notice of violation to curb this menace with iron hand and restore confidence and faith in general public, parents and students,” reads the circular.
