Wildlife Trust of india on Wednesday handed over the sanctioned field gears (sleeping bags, camera traps, Torch lights and tents) to Department of Wildlife Protection J&K North division Sopore under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar.

It is important to mention here that these essential kits are meant for mitigation of Man Animal conflict in Boniyar and its adjacent forest areas.

While deliberating on the preventive approach, the DC said that people should be made aware not to come out of their homes at inappropriate times in the vulnerable areas.

She said that imparting training and assistance to the field functionaries is also essential in order to support them in mitigating conflict between humans and wildlife that has been on a sharp rise.

The DC further said that by these instruments, the people can track the leopards and bears in the area thereby making it easy to deal with the situation. She stressed for mass awareness among the people through Mohalla Committees, Gram Sabhas and other platforms.
