Kathua, July 22: Wildlife Division Kathua has launched a massive plantation drive to celebrate Van Mahotsav.A statement issued here said that themed Voluntarily Plantation Drive, the Department conducted awareness programmes in Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary where more than 1500 saplings of different fruit and fodder plants were planted in the presence of ex- Panchayat members, local people as well as field staff of Surinsar-Mansar Range. Similarly, a mega plantation was conducted in Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary. More than 1000 fruit saplings were planted in the participation of locals. The aim of the drive is to create awareness among locals about environmental education and conservation of Wildlife. Till now the Wildlife Division Kathua has planted more than 3000 saplings on a voluntary basis, without putting burden on the Government exchequer. The events were organized by Wildlife Warden Zuhaib Chowdhary under the overall guidance of the Regional Wildlife Warden Jyotsana.
