Poonch, July 19: In a shocking incident late Friday night, a wild bear attacked a livestock shed in the remote village of Morban of Poonch district, killing 13 goats and leaving one critically injured. The attack took place around 11 PM and has caused immense financial distress to a poor local resident.According to sources, the victim, Abdul Razzaq, son of Fateh Sheikh, a resident of Dhara, was at home when a wild bear entered his premises and launched a brutal assault on his livestock. The sudden and violent nature of the attack left little chance for the animals to be rescued. Thirteen goats were killed on the spot, while one sustained serious injuries and is currently struggling for life.Locals have expressed strong resentment over the lack of response from both the district administration and the Wildlife Department. Despite the scale of the loss, no official has visited the site even hours after the incident, further fueling public outrage.Residents and the affected family have made a fervent appeal to the administration and the Wildlife Department to immediately assess the damage on-site and provide adequate financial compensation to the victim. They emphasize that timely support is crucial to help the impoverished family recover from the devastating loss. The incident highlights growing concerns over frequent wildlife intrusions in inhabited areas and underscores the urgent need for effective wildlife management and protection measures in remote regions like Mandi.
